6.1 Race and Color Discrimination Policies Discussion
  Previous  Next
Topic:

Atlas University is implementing new race and color discrimination and harassment policies for employees. The policies are designed to provide guidance as well as enforceable rules for dealing with race and color discrimination and harassment issues on campus and within the workplace. It is also believed by the University that implementation of these policies will reduce the risk liability to the University for claims based on race and color discrimination and harassment.

A first draft has been prepared and it reads as follows:

"Prohibited discrimination is any form of negative treatment of an employee by a university official which impacts an employee's employment opportunities and is based upon the employee's race or color. Prohibited discrimination of employees can also take the form of harassment even where there is no tangible impact upon the employee's employment opportunities and/or employment benefits.

Harassment is any activity that is unwelcome and that interferes with an individual's work by creating an offensive working environment. Such harassment of employees is prohibited by this Policy if it is based upon race or color. Conduct or behavior that is acceptable or amusing is permissible."

Take a look at the University's proposed race and color discrimination and harassment Policy and recommend at least four revisions to the Policy. Explain how your recommendations will improve the Policy and its purpose in serving as a guide and a "rule book" for employees, as well as in reducing the risk of liability to the University.

It should be analytical rather than descriptive or anecdotal. A complete analysis will require 10-12 pages, not counting the title page and reference page. Follow APA format for all parts of the manuscript. Review the plagiarism policy to avoid getting a zero on this major project. An Ethi...
Topic:  “Perhaps the World Ends Here” by Joy Harjo Description: Length and Format: minimum 800 words; 12-Font, Double-Spaced Your task is to generate a topic and to produce an essay on any poem we have discussed. The essay must consist of textual analysis and should not merely be a summary of the plot. You must have a coherent thesis, topic sentences for each body paragraph, and a title. A focus on literary language, devices and details is part of the assignment. Your analysis must blend citations with interpretive descriptions. Because the essay is an interpretation—and not a summary or “book report”—your thesis must make a particular point with which a reader could potentially disagree and for which you will use textual evidence as support using the MLA format for in-text citations. Your thesis should not be the statement of a fact, but an interpretive claim that it is the job of the essay to support. A sample thesis:”By keeping Iago’s underlying intention a mystery, Shakes...

How Middle Eastern students have changed higher education in the US

Students from the Middle East have to fit in the campuses with the rest of the students in the United States. Several positions have had to be introduced because of the influx students from the Middle East.  Characters are always in flux because of the force of others to re/engrave meaning onto our being. The individuals who characterize gatherings of individuals or specific people possess special subject positions inside United States or Western culture. Generally, persons involving sp ecial spaces were viewed as the bourgeoisie and were in charge of characterizing, recognizing, and door keeping society; truth be told, high culture was recognized as transcendently white, hetero, capable, center to high society, Christian, and male. It is against this setting of perfect American personality that particular characters have been fashioned to fill particular social parts in contemporary society, in many cases meeting various political purposes. Subjects are built into being pretty ...
